Journaling—Unlock your mind

I want to make my first post short.

Here it is

Journal. Everyday.

How to begin

If you are not already journaling. Here is how you get started:

1.) Buy a journal

2.) No matter what. Write something. Everyday. It could be something easy like, “I am writing in my journal write now. It is something I will do everyday.”

3.) Continue forever. When you fill up the journal, buy a new one.

My Journal

Questions you may have

Why Journal? – Journaling helps your brain think. For me, if I’m stuck on a question, I write the question out. As an example, I write, “what should I do next.” Then, I let my pen answer the question.

Why write. Can’t I type? – I have learned that writing allows more freedom. On the fly you can draw a picture. Make a table. A graph. Whatever you need. The key is to keep writing.

What happens after I fill it up? – I know someone who kept every journal he made. He regarded his journal as a trove of knowledge. I on the other hand, after about a month, throw them out. I wait a month just in case I need to reference something. But journals are mainly to unlock your mind. Not to store information.

What should I write about? – Anything. Don’t limit yourself. If you are having trouble getting started, write things like: “I am alone in a room. The room has white walls”. “It is hot out side”. “What do I do next.” I write, “what do I do next” often, it helps me think through next action steps.

Should I keep my journal with me at all times? – I do. You never know when you must write something down.
