Stream of Consciousness

The easiest way for me to write is what I call stream of consciousness. I write my thoughts. The point is to write with little consideration to punctuation and grammar. Without fear. With no thoughts like “it must be good.” Just let it all come out on the computer screen. Simply pick a topic a go. Fuck off writers block.

I feel writing this way is easy is because it is the way the thoughts are appearing in my head. And it’s the way I speak to people. I tend to want to talk to people in person about being better. So that is what I will write about more often. I love to talk to people about the things I do to make myself better. And my hope is that something will catch their ear and they will take action. And who knows, overtime I might be able to spit out an epic 10 series sci-fi thriller one day.

My strategy here is to come out with more writing more often. With the idea that I will get better at stream of consciousness purely through repetition and daily writing. Eventually I will be writing the same way but the words that come out the first time will be cleaner and sharper. If you get my meanings. What I write will then come out in a pleasant way to the reader.

I still edit. Mainly the edits are to fix gross errors in grammar and punctuation. And to remove extra thoughts and words. This writing technique tends to create more words than necessary. Usually I write on Monday and edit on Tuesday. And hopefully post on Tuesday. And start the process again on Wednesday.

This type of writing is better than nothing. That phrase “better than nothing” has left my lips many times over the past few months. It’s always better to do a little everyday than a lot maybe sometime in the future.

Overall this is a good writing technique for me. I can pick a topic I am familiar with and “go to town.” Let’s see if I keep it up.
