Many wannabe writers say, “I will only write when the muse/inspiration strikes.” I’m a newer writer and I understand that the muse/inspiration will show up but not when I’m sitting on my couch eating a snack watching Fallout. The muse will show up when I begin to write.
I promised myself I would do daily blog posts. And here I am at 6:50 pm on a Sunday. I’m here, that’s what matters.
I’m copying Seth Godin because he told me to. I’m writing a blog post a day.
I suppose after doing this 365 times, I will get really good at this. What good is I don’t know.
I do want to write and continue to write all sorts of stuff.
Writing is the best form of development. I helps to hone thoughts and ideas into a framework of thinking and decision-making. That has allowed Seth Godin to give these long talks without needing notes and only using pictures in his slides.
He also got this way because he has done so many talks. And that leads me to what I want to write about today. Getting Better.
Happy Mother’s Day by the way. Thank you Moms for all you do. You deserve so much more.
Getting better at stuff is at the heart of all my endeavors. Being bad, then working to be slightly better and noticing that improvement makes my days enjoyable.
I share the joy of improvement with my family every day.
But how do we know what to get better at?
Here is a resource from Derek Sivers. He has done enough thinking for all of us. He also has a strong fascination with improvement and is a prolific reader.
Here is his website https://sive.rs/
And here is the link where he writes notes on all the books he reads. https://sive.rs/book
I’ve used this page to get ideas of ways to improve.
Well, that’s all I want to write.
See you tomorrow.
